"Tech the Halls"!
My "ugly" Christmas sweater for our middle school competition
(I might add it won 1st prize)...
picture me wearing it:
headphones with lights, iPods, flashdrives, cd's, a mouse, a dongle...
all safety pinned to my sweater,
an iPad "necklace" around my neck displaying "Tech the Halls"
with "Deck the Halls" playing :)
my 9 year old, Kaleb said "Mom, are you really wearing that to school?",
my 6 year old, Blake said "Cool! Can you make me one of those!"
Ms. Roth's Marketing Project
Ms. Roth's Marketing students completed a project display, of course I was partial to this one of the iPhone 5C! Did you know it is only $99 and plastic? Great device! The students were required to include detailed information including product history, etc. Alec used a unique way of displaying it creating his own iPhone!

8th Grade Career Unit
Mrs. Krehbiel, Mr. Woodward, and Mr. Rewerts just finished the 8th grade career unit. Many students chose to use technology for their presentations about the career they chose to research. Students also made charts and graphs using Excel in Math class in this cross-curricular unit.

Mrs. Yoder's Google Search Tips
Mrs. Yoder's presented "Google Search Tips" to the HS Interactive Media class, something we can all improve at! She explained the different search criteria you can use that will allow you to be the most efficient when searching. The students had fun trying to quickly find specific topics, documents, and answers on Google.
Mr. Johnston Rube Goldberg Machine iMovies
Mr. Johnston's HS Science classes produce Rube Goldberg Machine iMovies. The assignment was to make 6 simple machines to perform a very simple task in a very complex fashion. The students had fun creating the videos and it was a great way to document they knew how to build and understood a Rube Goldberg Machine. Great job Mr. Johnston! This video is pretty neat...watch at:

Ms. Roth-Scratch Animation
Scratch animation is a program available on all of our MacBooks in the district, just go to your spotlight and search for "Scratch" or look in your applications folder. Students can create stories, games, and animations. Using the Scratch website http://scratch.mit.edu/ projects can be uploaded and viewed around the world.
Ms. Roth and I team taught this unit last week to her freshman Interactive Media students. I think we would both agree we learned as much from the students as they did from us. The students loved the program and created some pretty amazing projects in a short amount of time. Animation is a huge industry right now and has many opportunities for careers. All ages of kids love this program, so if you are needing a new, fun, interactive tool, don't be afraid to try it out, I can help!

Hesston Teacher Blogs
Several of our teachers have their own classroom blogs. I thought it would be easy if I provided a place where all of the links were in once location! Classroom blogs are a fun way for parents to see what is happening in your class! I will continue to add to the list as it grows for our district!
