Google Updates and Movenote

As most of you have noticed, Google has done some recent updates.  Your drive is now found under the 9 square menu in the upper right.  One of the best features they added is the ability to  load Gmail attachments right to your drive instead of having to download them first!  Movenote has also teamed up with Google Drive. What is Movenote?  It is an easy way to make and share movie presentations/tutorials with your students!  Click here to find out more!

Miss Dryton's High School Election

The high school is running an election in Miss Dryton's class. They had "Dryton Bucks" to spend on such things as campaign advertising.  The students are campaigning for 4 teachers....here are some of the movies they created to advertise their nominee!  You need to watch them!  There are some really good ones!  I especially like this one:

Presentation Tools

8th grade is gearing up for their career unit and our planning to give the students several choices this year for presentation tools.  Mr. Rewerts found this good website of 5 tools to make a killer presentation: http://mashable.com/2013/08/19/presentation-apps/.  Metta is another good movie presentation tool.  Check it out here.

#Hesstongnomes

Middle School Art students created gnomes and are sending them around the world!  The gnomes have a QR Code on the back which tells the user to take a picture of the gnome with something in their area and post it on Twitter using #Hesstongnomes.  Here is a gnome in Chicago!  Follow them on Twitter!

Mr. Lafferty's Pages Research Project & Tellagami

From the desk of Mr. Lafferty:
"Here is Cody's feature article and the link to his related Tellagami. He chose a voice with a southern accent because he said rattlesnakes and southern accents seem to go together =). The students were asked to research a topic of interest and then create a feature article using the Newsletter template in Pages.  After the completion of their articles they were allowed to create a Tellagami.  They created a person that would share facts and/or summarize information related to their article. Some students used the backgrounds that were available and some imported backgrounds that related closely to their topic. We haven't shared the completed tellagamis with the class yet, but the kids are excited to do so and it will be a great way for each student to have the opportunity to let their peers know what topic they researched and some interesting facts that they discovered.  This has been a great experience for the kids. They have been very motivated and excited about all the parts of the project, from the research portion that Rachel Yoder guided them through to the creation of a tellagami."

Miss Reed's PowToons!

PowToon.com is a fun way to make videos.  There is so much you can do with your movie, just create a free account and create away!  You can add cool text effects, animations, pictures, music, voice, etc. and videos can easily be uploaded to YouTube. Kids will LOVE THIS!!  I created a very simple one in about 10 minutes...My 1st PowToon Video.  Here is an example of how another teacher used it in class: Click here for Teacher Example.
