Notability App

Notability is an app that can be used by teachers as well as students.  It is an annotation app that allows you to annotate on documents...but it is much more than that.  Mrs. Ortman is using it with 5 graders in Language Arts class as a way to reduce the amount of paper that has to be handed out.  To gear up for state assessments they have been doing a lot of reading passages with questions.  She has been uploading the passage to Edmodo, and the students then import it to Notability.  They can highlight the passage and make notes on the PDF.  They have also used it to identify figurative language in passages.

In Math, they are using it to work on a practice worksheet with missing interior angles.  The app allows the students to write their answers on the PDF, rather than on paper.  Some students prefer the pencil tool, while others prefer the text boxes.

Here is what Mrs. Ortman has to say about Notability, "As a math teacher, this is probably the most useful app I have used so far.  It has many options and still allows students to practice the skills we are working on.  Combined with Edmodo, it's very useful!"  Check out Mr. Proctor's video of some 5th grade students using Notability at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9qjZe21Mnw.

Mr. Proctor and Mrs. Krehbiel are also using it to give back digital coaching forms for Cooperative Learning coaching days.  The teacher receives instant feedback and Mr. Proctor and Mrs. Krehbiel are able to keep a digital record including pictures.
